Why Is the Printer Printing Blue on Photos
Black ink has turned blue...why?
Black ink has turned blue...why?
Apr 5, 2004
I have a quick (and bothersome) question.
I am trying tp print black & white photos, but my printer is mistaken the black for blue. So i am printing blue & white photos.
I am using a Canon i850. I've alligned the heads a few times and it seems every time, it is off a little from the last time. Can anyone help?

Did you do a nozzle check to see if you're getting all nozzles working. If not do it because without all nozzles working you won't get accurate colors. If the nozzle check is not good do a head cleaning. Two or three if needed. If still not good a cartridge or the head may need replacing. The yellow, magenta and cyan are mixed to make black for photo printing.
The large black ink cartridge is used for text printing only.

If it's just a hint of blue, it may be the best your printer can do. B&W is a challenge for most inkjet printers.

Yes, and the paper type used can result in slight blue/green/magenta tints sometimes too (most frequently using non-OEM papers for which you do not have custom profiles).

I have often printed black & white shots. So I know it's not that. They often turn out great. I did not know however that the black is only for text. It makes sense I guess, except i NEVER use this printer to print text.
Thanks for all of your help everyone.

Sounds like clogged nozzles. Run a nozzle check and see what prints up there. It's a good place to start.

If you never print text you stand a good chance of having the black nozzles clog beyond repair.
